Misfitdom

By Keiti | September 17, 2007

Today has been one of those days where I’ve been questioning my misfit status.  It’s not that I don’t want to be a misfit or think there’s anything particularly wrong with misfitdom, but I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about how I always find myself exhibiting decidedly normal behavior, which kinda sorta negates the being a misfit part.

It used to be that I would fit snugly in my misfit boots and my misfit hair.  Being a misfit doesn’t fall solely under the appearances category, of course, but I find that my own brand of misfit involves looking a bit different than everyone else.  Whenever this particular ennui strikes, the first thing to go is my hair.  I’ve spent most of the past couple of months trying to let my hair grow out - for some reason, I hit these stages where I get it into my head that being a girl involves long, flowy hair.

Needless to say, it’s all in vain - I’m simply not a long, flowy hair kind of girl.

So, in the spirit of reclaiming my title of misfit, enjoy the forthcoming installments of Assimilation beginning tomorrow.
