The Moment You’ve All Been Waiting For…

By Keiti | September 24, 2007

Okay, so maybe not.

BUT

It is time for the first ever recipient inducted into the Misfit Hall of Fame!

(Cue applause, whistles, snorts, etc…)

I actually came across Sweet on Geeks shortly after the ex dumped me. I think I saw them on one of the morning news shows. At any rate, because I was so determined not to fall into my usual pattern of spending far too much time feeling sorry for myself, I went to check it out. There’s a two-week trial period, then a $5 / month membership fee. And it’s filled with people who are very different than the ones you’d find on the “big-name” dating sites. I used to always feel bad about myself whenever I signed up for the others (I haven’t tried all, so take that for what it’s worth) - not only are they expensive, they’re full of people I generally don’t surround myself with, and I very rarely ever received anything that could remotely be considered a return on my investment. I signed up for Sweet on Geeks and in the first couple of weeks the emails started coming in.

In the spirit of fairness, I ended up canceling my account, mostly because I was in such a financial bind that I couldn’t rationalize even spending $5 / month that wasn’t absolutely necessary. But all of my interaction with the staff at Sweet on Geeks was wonderful - their customer service was impeccable - everyone was friendly and was ready and able to assist me as needed. I do plan on signing back up once I get my finances under control.

So, go check them out and tell them I sent you. (Though don’t be surprised if you discover they have no idea who I am…) ;-)
Edit.  I just discovered the Sweet on Geeks has merchandise up on Cafe Press.  Visit their store here.
