Personal Responsibility

Damn, I’m tired today. I had to lock Dorian Gray out of my room when I went to sleep this morning because he was on a terror kick (which involves bolting from room to room, and when it involves my bedroom, racing across the bed and, as par for the course, racing across me, and generally creating havoc). About 12:30, I awoke to Mr. Gray whining at the door.
Suffice it to say, he’s got a very loud meow when he’s in the mood.
I’ll be heading off to get some more sleep in a few minutes.
I spent part of this morning afternoon reading the blog of someone who is a supporter of the couple who had the standoff with police over tax evasion up in New Hampshire, I believe it was, and who were finally arrested not too long ago. It never ceases to amaze me how paranoid people can be. It also never ceases to amaze me that people who support other people who break the law seem to be put out that government entities are apparently visiting their websites.
I mean, really, what do they expect? It was an extremely high-profile case (which, of course, explains why I can’t remember their names nor most of the specifics) involving years of unpaid taxes, a standoff with authorities, and they don’t seem to understand why they would be of interest, as well, given their rather public support.
So, you don’ t like the laws? Think they’re unconstitutional? Think they’re stupid and ridiculous? Fine. Then work to change them. But don’t be surprised when the authorities show up on your doorstep when you break the law. The last time I checked, law-breaking brings about serious consequences. I’m not saying don’t stand up for what you believe is right, but for damn’s sake, accept the consequences of your actions. If that involves authorities visiting your website or showing up on your door step as a result of your choices, then suck it up, quit your whining and realize that you played a part in it.
You will now be returned to your regularly scheduled program.
