Blah Blah Blog

Today I’m thinking how wonderful it would be to stay curled up in bed and watch a movie instead of going to work. But those bills must be paid, and so I’ll head back to work in a couple of hours. I have to tell you, though, as much as I like what I’m doing and the fact that I’ve met a lot of great people, if I had to pull this many hours a week longer than a couple of months, I think I’d seriously start considering a change in careers. The worst part about it, aside from the lack of sleep, is the lack of time to do anything else - I’ve got tons of writing projects in mid-stream that I’d love to be working on, but simply don’t have the time.
Of course, after this is all over I’ll have plenty of time. Theoretically, anyway. I’ll also have to focus on moving and finding another job and making sure my bills get paid in the meantime. Then there’s the prospect of going to grad school overseas - I sent in another couple of applications the other night - that makes three, so far, and I’ve decided that if I don’t get accepted to any of them, I’m going to focus on other things for the time being. Since I’ve turned my applications in extremely early, I’m hoping to hear something one way or the other by the end of the year. It took me two and a half months before I heard back from the University of Glasgow earlier in the year, so I’m hoping the time frame will essentially be the same. I’d sure love to be in either England or Scotland this time next year.
But we’ll see what happens.

I am jealous. I’ve done quite a bit of travelling but I’ve always wanted to live abroad for more than three months. And of course going to university abroad would’ve been better. I long to go to Scotland, one of the days I’ll get there. Supposedly there’s an Elliott Castle (my husband’s famiy) somewhere in Scotland. Would be fun to hunt it down. What is it you do? If you’re keeping that private that’s okay.

I actually grew up between the states and Germany, and given the choice I’d rather live overseas. Not Germany, though - my latest goal, obviously, is the UK somewhere - preferably Scotland. We’ll see what happens with the grad school thing - if I get accepted then I have to figure out how I’m going to pay for it.
I think it would be cool to hunt down a family castle.
My family (at least part of them) are from Oban which is, I believe, on the west coast somewhere. I don’t think we have a castle, though.
I’m not keeping what I do private, exactly - unless there’s exceptional drama, I try not to blog about work much. But since you asked, I’m currently doing Admin Support during an outage at a Nuclear Power Plant. Nothing terribly exciting.
