Happy Thanksgiving

By Keiti | November 22, 2007

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. I was planning on sleeping for most of it, but my brother called and woke me up. I wuv him. :-) It’s just as well, though, because I’m going to see the new Stephen King movie with an old friend of mine who I haven’t seen since before I moved up to Atlanta the first time. I ended up not having to work tonight, so that’s cool.

At any rate, here’s a Thanksgiving joke to leave you with. Well…it’s only a Thanksgiving joke in the sense that it’s a joke and today just happens to be Thanksgiving…

Two poets were driving in a car along the Pacific Coast Highway, twisting and turning admiring the view when a mudslide forced them to veer off course and careen into the ocean where they both die.

Inevitably, they end up at the gates of Heaven where they meet St. Peter who tells them that, unfortunately, there is only room for one of them and that in order to decide they’re going to have a “poem-off”.

The deal is this: whomever can create the best poem using the word “Timbuktu” will gain the coveted entry.

The first poet thinks for a few minutes before offering the following:

Over the burning desert sands
Came the mighty caravans
Led by camels, tried and true
On their way to Timbuktu

St. Peter is impressed and lavishes the first poet with praise for his efforts.

The second poet, determined not to be outdone, also takes the time to think - mutters to himself, trying to craft the perfect poem. He chooses to counter with:

Tim and I a-hunting went
Met three maidens in a tent
Since they were three
And we were two
I bucked one
And…

(Work the punchline out for yourself.)
