A Different Life

By Keiti | February 28, 2008

One of my favorite books is Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl. It’s a book I’ve read far too many times to count, and I get such a thrill when new information comes to light, as has happened occasionally over the years.

Most recently, a picture of her one true love, Peter Schiff, has surfaced, and is the only picture known to exist.

It’s nice to put a name with a face.

And it makes me wonder how life would have turned out if WWII hadn’t happened and they’d both had a chance to grow up under normal circumstances. Would Anne’s crush have grown into something deeper? Would Peter have returned Anne’s affections?

I know it’s a moot point and we’ll never know the answers, but I can’t help myself from wondering “what if?”

Is this what girls think about? What happened to world peace, stealing (I mean adopting) babies from the third world and saving squid or hugging trees? Is this the Emo Keiti I’ve never met? Perhaps I’m just a little cynical right now about these ‘girly’ things because I inadvertently bought a ‘chick-lit’ book last week (a Jill Mansell book) and after about a hundred pages, I almost went to the local butcher to have the rest of my fingers removed so I could no longer turn the pages of any book.

I can’t speak for other girls, but I think about all sorts of things. My mind is usually all over the place.

Emo? Mich? I didn’t even know what Emo was until I taught high school a few years back and had to ask what the heck it was..

    That made me feel old.

There’s no use being bitter that you got sucked into a chick-lit book…it happens to the best of us.

    Was it any good?
    ;-)
