Why Can’t my Sick Days be Like You’ve Got Mail?

By Keiti | March 6, 2008

So my piddly little cold / allergy / possibly the flu thing has finally caught up with me.

I’m such a baby when I’m sick.  Spent most of the day in my pajamas lounging on the couch thinking about how I should take the time away from work to actually get some writing done, but nothing could have pried me off the couch.

The rest of the time I spent thinking about why my life couldn’t be like You’ve Got Mail.  There’s a scene where Meg Ryan’s character is home sick with a cold and Tom Hank’s character shows up with daisies.  And despite being sick, Meg Ryan looks perky and cute.

(And yes I realize it’s a movie, but still…)

In my life, however, I felt icky and gross and my hair was all over the place and I wanted nothing to do except sleep, but couldn’t because it was really humid and hot in the house today.  And there was certainly no one showing up on my doorstep bearing flowers.

Being sick makes me cranky.  And today Cranky Keiti doesn’t like where her life is.

Bleh.

I’d rather have a sick day like ole Ferris Bueller. But only because my chick’s hot, I need to put one over on the man, and Cameron’s dad has some saweet wheels.

A sick day like Ferris Bueller’s would be awesome, too.

Right now, though, I’d settle for not feeling like crap.

It’s the small things, you know.
