The Final Countdown

By Keiti | July 10, 2008

Kinda, sorta.

I received the last piece of information I needed to finish up my visa application and everything is ready to be overnighted to Chicago tomorrow.

Once it’s mailed, I simply get to sit and wait until they approve my visa or tell me a big fat no.

Hopefully it’ll be the former.

Other stuff on my list to do:

1.  Get all my collected stuff together and ready for a yard sale - might do one this weekend if I can manage to pull everything together in time.  I was going to wait until the following weekend, but I have plans to drive up to my brother’s to see The Dark Knight and that’s going to take precedence.

2.  Go talk to the vet to see about getting Dorian ready to go the UK.  I can’t take him with me initially, but if I’m going to stay for any great length of time I want to have my parents bring him over without his having to sit in quarantine for 6 months.

3.  Start burning my CDs to the computer (and decide if I want to sell the CDs after I’m done)

4.  Decide where I want to stay in London for the three days I’m there.

5.  Investigate ticket prices from London to Stirling

6.  Get with L o’balls to confirm that she’s taking the train with me to NYC to catch the boat

7.  Look into getting my big luggage transported from London to Stirling so I don’t have to wrestle with them on the train trip

8.  Start going through my books to decide what I need to take with me - the very nature of my course means I have at least some of the books I’ll need for my studies

9.  Pack away my books and pull out any I want to get rid of (there probably won’t be any - I’m a bit of a book whore)

10.  Make a list of things I want to do while I’m in London

11.  Talk Cactus Girl into flying into London two days earlier than she currently is.  ;-)
12.  Look for a new digital camera and a video recorder

13.  Try not to think about my visa while I’m waiting for it to be approved

14.  Have fun with my family and friends before I leave

15.  Take the occasional break

The last one’s going to be a bit hard.  There’s so much to do in such a short amount of time.

Keeping books doesn’t make you a book whore, it makes you a collector. I have more books than you and I am not a whore.

Yeah, but you’re not me. :-)
I’m happy being a book whore.

Better than being a streetcorner whore.

I’m not sure you have more books than I do. I think we’re probably (at least) even.

Yep…I still subscribe to sibling rivalry.

At last count before I cull P’s books, I am at 941 books. And I probably have another 20 that haven’t been entered into the book holding list.

And how many of those are P’s books since you haven’t culled them, yet?

I haven’t counted mine, yet, nor have I put them into a book holding list - it’s on my list of things to do before I leave. I need to pack them up, anyway, so…

At this point I may or may not have that many - I’ve gotten rid of some and my storage space isn’t what I need, so…

    We’ll see.
