The Final Hurdle…

By The Misfit | July 16, 2008

has been surpassed!

I ran a couple of errands this morning and came home to an email from the Chicago visa office informing me that my application had been approved and my visa issued.  And, as stated in their previous email, a UPS tracking number was included.

Just for s & g’s, I tracked it a few minutes ago.  Even though I knew it was too early for there to be anything beyond the perfunctory information.  I couldn’t help myself.  Turns out they’re sending it Next Day Air Saver, which means I should probably have it tomorrow afternoon.

Yay for the misfit!

I also got a copy of the book list from school – I swear, I love the fact that much of what we’re reading in the first semester is pretty much in the public domain.  Which means I can pull nearly everything off Project Gutenberg and either print it out or put in pdf form.  Saves a whole bunch of dough on buying the books.  There are a couple that I already own, and there are some I’m bringing even though they’re not on the list as I have no idea what I’m doing my thesis on.  I’m still torn between Children’s Literature and the Marquis de Sade.  I’m skipping bringing my Harry Potter books, but I am lugging along my Marquis de Sade.

Of course, I may change my mind entirely once I get there and get wrapped up in school.

So, now the planning and making reservations begin in earnest.  It’s going to be a busy month and a half.

And the yard sale I mentioned in an earlier post isn’t going to happen until the weekend of the 26th.  I completely got my dates confused.  So this weekend I’m driving up to my brother’s and we’re going to hang out all weekend and go to see The Dark Knight.  It’s going to be awesome!

So, on that note, I’m off to start getting things done.  Which I should have started earlier today, but didn’t quite make it.

Flying by the seat of my pants is still something I apparently relish.

;-)

Congratulations! Haggis is not just on the horizon but it’s going to be on the dinner plate!

seriously, the offer still stands…think about it…India AND China for Scottland… just think about the square miles you’d be gaining…
    Congratulations!!! :)

    Keith~

I wish I had no clue what was in haggis…somehow I don’t think it’s on the menu.

But who knows? I may be able to brave it up.

It’s not about quantity, but quality. That sounds way worse than I mean it – I just mean that I’d rather go to Scotland than India and China.

    But thanks. :-)

Care to elaborate on the leap of mind from Harry Potter to the Marquis de Sade? I tried but couldn’t do it.

    Patricia,

I can’t say that there’s a direct correlation between Harry Potter and the Marquis de Sade; I’ve just been musing on possible topics for my MLitt thesis.

What can I tell you? Trying to figure out how my brain makes connections…

Well, I just wouldn’t recommend it. There’s no rhyme nor reason, really.
    :-)
