Not So Secret Secrets

By The Misfit | November 16, 2008

Before I get to what I actually plan to write about, I want to tell everyone to go check out Seize Adventure.  Paul left me a comment on yesterday’s post with the film short and for some reason WP wouldn’t let me approve it and I deleted it out of frustration (after running some test comments…all of which were fine…so I’m afraid it was just Paul’s comment…do you think it was karmic retribution for being pissy about the coffee yesterday?  ;-)   You know coffee doesn’t like it when its humans get pissy… he he he).

One of the other blogs I look forward to reading, albeit only once a week, is Post Secret.  And every week I wish I had a secret to send.  I thought about it again today and realized that I don’t really have any secrets.  I learned a long time ago that keeping secrets only led to them being used against you when someone found out, so I stopped.  No one person knows everything, but there is nothing that I wouldn’t be forthright about should any of it ever come up.  And there are some things I choose not to post on my blog – obviously people’s real names and anything that could be used to identify them, but those aren’t what I’m referring to as they’re not really my secrets…I just don’t feel it’s my place to hold them up for public fodder or give away any of the secrets they choose to maintain – the things I choose not to post on my blog are mostly out of deference to my parents and other family members who read my blog (regularly, I’m sure).

Anyway, I’ve decided to post some things that you may or may not know about me.  How secret are they?  They’re not, really…but it’s the closest you’re going to get.

1.  Everyone knows I have a thing for shaved heads, but I also have a thing for men with long hair, something that isn’t quite so obvious unless you’ve known me a long time.  I am apparently all about the extremes.

2.  When I was little I thought Arkansaw and Arkansas were two different states (being pronounced exactly how they look).  This still makes me feel like a complete dumbass.

3.  I know nothing about the town in which I was born and haven’t been back since we left when I was under a year (my mom will correct me if I’m wrong about the age thing, I’m sure).

4.  As much as I love to read and as prolific of a reader as I am, I don’t retain much when I read.  Which is partly why I read books at least twice, but more often than not 5-6 times.  Or more if I really love them.  I mean, I’ve read The Picture of Dorian Gray at least 10 times and I still catch stuff I missed the previous times.

5.  While I regret nothing, I sometimes wish I could have a do-over for my twenties.

6.  When I was little (probably around 8 or so), and after watching The Amityville Horror, I thought my brother was going to kill us all with an axe.  (I think I’ve told him this before…and it wasn’t because of anything he did…I was just acting like a freakin’ girl.)  I also never got past the part where James Brolin falls through the basement stairs into the blood until I was well into my 20s.

7.  The Incredible Hulk used to give me nightmares.

8.  The first movie I ever saw on video was Conan the Barbarian.  Yep, had nightmares from that, too.

9.  Big Bro?  Remember all the times you got in trouble over the ice cube trays being partially emptied and put back in the freezer?  That was me.  *giggle*  (hey…I couldn’t best you physically and I had to extract my revenge somehow.  And you have to admit that you deserved it… he he he)

10.  My favorite movie ever…click here to find out.  I haven’t seen it in probably 15 years or so because I only have a vhs copy and it’s not available on dvd (that I know of).

I know I’m supposed to tag people, but I never do anything I’m supposed to…but if you feel like sharing, knock yourselves out.

Start saving your pennies, or whatever they’re called in Arkansaw, or is it Arkansas? I get those confused.

This is the one I found so far….

I’ve got two words for you. Do you think you can decide what they are? ;-)

I know that there are DVD copies floating around the UK, but everything I’ve been able to find indicates that they’re exceptionally crappy. In which case, I’m not about to spend $110 on it. I’d rather wait until I get back to the states and find someone to put it on a DVR for me.

    Thanks for looking though. :-D

Well I guess since I found that LP for you of “Dogs In Space” I guess I could send you the DVD or you can have it in a media file. You know where to send me the information.

Will, you are such a doll! I actually found a DVD copy over here that wasn’t a ridiculous amount of money…probably more than I normally would have spent (about $25, I guess, with the exchange rate) knowing full well the quality is rather poor, but I’m okay with that – much better than paying over $100 for it. :-) It arrived today, oddly enough, and I plan to watch it as soon as my lectures are over and my last paper is turned it.

Stay warm! Has it snowed, yet? Tell your mom I said hi!!

    mwah!
