Yep, Still Procrastinating

Monday, May 25th, 2009

So the first chapter of my dissertation is due a week from today.  I’ve managed to scrape together about 800 words of my 3000 word limit – most of which was written sometime last week. Here’s what I’ve done in the meantime: Watched the last 20 minutes of Jane Eyre 2006.  Twice.  I.  Heart.  Toby [...]

Beth Trissel

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

UPDATE: Beth Trissel has just informed me that she will be giving away a digital download of Through the Fire to one lucky recipient.  To be eligible, just leave a comment with a question for Beth. Since we last spoke with author Beth Trissel last September, her novel Somewhere My Love has received an awesome [...]

Huh?

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

Let me get this straight. Underage girls in the United States can obtain abortions without parental consent, but an underage boy is not legally allowed to decide for himself if he wants chemotherapy?  Granted, the mother defied a court order which she shouldn’t have done, but the court order is questionable at best. Our system [...]

What To Do, What To Do…

Monday, May 18th, 2009

I have absolutely nothing to procrastinate with. I’ve watched all the episodes of Robin Hood that are available.  No new ones until the 23rd. I’ve started watching Victorian Farm but no new episodes until Wednesday. (As an aside, if you pull the above sites up from the U.S., you won’t be able to play any [...]

PMS & Stress Don’t Mix

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

Every have those days where everything seems completely overwhelming? Today has been one of those days where it’s dawned on me how much in debt I am with this whole school adventure (including my BA). And I’m completely hormonal. And wondering if the economy back in the states is as dire as the media makes [...]

I Am *Such* A Freak

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

I’m still working on my last essay – which is due on Thursday and I’m not quite halfway done – but I saw this article this morning and it made me giggle. 30-year-old Man ‘Gives Birth’ to Embryonic Twin The best part:  “Hyatt said he keeps the twin in a jar at home and calls [...]

From Mr. Rochester to Prince John

Sunday, May 10th, 2009

In further procrastination news, I’ve discovered Toby Stephens aka Mr. Rochester plays Prince John in a BBC TV show adaption of Robin Hood.  I’m not overly familiar with Robin Hood aside from the generalities, but I’ve watched the first 7 episodes from Season 3 and I love it! Except for the fact that Prince John [...]

Mr. Darcy vs. Mr. Rochester

Friday, May 8th, 2009

I have an essay due in 6 days. Have I started? Nope. Instead, I’ve been feeding my soul with romance, 19th Century style. er… sort of. I started with Pride & Prejudice 1996 with Colin Firth.  I’m not a huge Jane Austen fan – I avoided the class solely devoted to Jane Austen as an undergrad [...]

Well, *That* Was Interesting…

Friday, May 8th, 2009

My apologies for those of you who stopped by over the past couple of days and discovered the site down.  Not sure what happened, but the illustrious webmaster, DC, was able to take care of the problem. Thanks, DC! I’ll post a regular post soon – am in the throes of trying to pull together [...]

Scratch This!

Saturday, May 2nd, 2009

Sad news, but one of my Derby picks was scratched from the race.  I Want Revenge was pulled due to a wretched ankle. So all my hopes for a Triple Crown Winner this year are riding on Dunkirk. We’ll see.
