I think overall Mr. Rochester wins in my book; mostly because Jane Eyre is one of my favorite books and I've read it so many times. Compared to Pride & Prejudice which I've read maybe two or three times. I think both characters start off as total jackasses in the beginning - prideful and conceited and sometimes just plain mean - only to end up being jelly in the arms of the woman they (respectively) love. It didn't take me long at all to fall for Toby Stephens as Rochester. Every version I've seen, Rochester was always too pretty, though the acting has always been decent. But Toby... well, he fits the part well. He's awesome looking, but he's not pretty. And his facial expressions are to die for! :-) Sarah ~ I’m so glad I’m not the only one! I think I've settled on Mr. Rochester because he is more passionate, and I love the way he loves Jane. Sigh. So romantic. Also, I love Toby Stephens in the 2006 version.
