Welcome Award-winning author Debby Grahl for this week’s Thirteen for Thursday

~~~~~
Who was your first book boyfriend/girlfriend?
Anthony Malory, from Johanna Lindsey’s Tender Rebel
What is the most interesting topic you’ve researched?
Learning about different types of poison. It was amazing how many plants can kill you.
What is your favorite book, song, and/or movie guilty pleasure?
The book would be Gone with the Wind. Movie, The Big Easy. Guilty pleasure, wine and dark chocolate.
You’re trying to find a brand-new author to read. No recommendations allowed. What’s your decision process?
This depends on what type of book I’m in the mood for. I’ll do a search, listen to an excerpt or read the blurb, and look at reviews. I recently found a new author and read all 15 books in the series.
What is your favorite movie quote and why? “We’re going to need a bigger boat.”
Remove the word boat, and this could apply to anything.
Would you ever jump out of a perfectly good airplane?
No! I don’t mind heights if I’m enclosed in something, although, this doesn’t apply to dangling by a wire on a ski lift. I also don’t go into caves, or cross swinging bridges over a gorge.
Aside from writing, what different types of jobs have you done?
Years ago, my friend and I had a small cleaning business called Crazy Clean. There was one very nice lady who made us cookies.
When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A flight attendant. I wanted to travel and really liked their uniforms. This would have been quite a while ago and the clothing was a lot dressier.
White chocolate, milk chocolate, or dark chocolate?
Dark!
If you could witness any event past, present or future, what would it be?
Lincoln’s Gettysburg address.
What modern technology would you choose to not use and why?
Smart televisions and remote controls! Life was much simpler when you turned the channels by hand and there were only a few to choose from.
What is the first movie you remember seeing?
I think it was Bambi and I recall crying. It really is an awful movie for children.
If you could speak a second language, what would it be and why?
Italian. I love the country and food.
Bonus Round
Spiders, friends or foes?
Foe! Unless, it’s Charlotte from the movie.
What is one motto or philosophy you consistently live by?
Never stop trying. Or Shop until you drop.
