Yes, I know I’m later than usual with the update on my fiancee’s Mike Rowe’s shenanigans. I’ve decided to skip the blatant pervy comments that last night’s episode seems to demand from me, so I’m working on it.

In the meantime, I received an email from a former co-worker and current friend who I worked with at the company that shall never be named a number of years ago. Most of the time we don’t discuss them - we’ve moved beyond that now – but every once in a while something comes up that sparks the snarky-ness.

So, for your viewing enjoyment, I present to you the most fantastic article entitled 15 Signs Your Workplace is Dysfunctional.

One last note. If you recognize your company in this (mine hit all 15), I recommend bolting out the door as soon as possible. Crappy economy or not, it’s not worth it.

Trust me.

One of the biggest irritations when I was a teacher (yes, I know, all three months of it), was when parents called me when grades were released to inquire as to why their child was either flunking or in danger of flunking. Never mind the fact that I’d sent home mid-term progress reports. This issue was two-fold: 1 – the kids never expected that I’d actually hand them the grades they’d earned and 2 – the parents never expected that I’d actually give their child the grades they’d earned. In my world, you don’t do your work, you don’t pass. Period.

There is something seriously wrong with the mentality that passing anything requires nothing more than showing up, as if this entitles them to pass go and collect $200. The school system is shoveling kids along, graduating them when they haven’t learned the basic skills they’re supposed to have learned and this sense of entitlement continues on into college and university level studies as well as the work force.

This is not true of every child in the school system, nor of every parent. But it is unfortunately prevalent. And now as a role model we have President Obama who has won the nobel peace prize (lowercase intentional), and who has done absolutely nothing to deserve it.

The way I look at it, it’s kind of like what women generally do in terms of dating: we tend to date in terms of potential, and potential ain’t jack if one doesn’t live up to it. Will President Obama live up to his potential? It’s too soon to tell. And that is the reason I’m so hacked off. As far as I’m concerned, President Obama winning the npp when he hasn’t yet earned it not only sends the wrong message, it also reenforces the entitlement mentality that is in dire need of adjustment.

The level of disgust I feel when someone (read: anyone) plays the race card when it’s not warranted is immeasurable. And it’s gotten worse since President Obama took office. I mean, seriously. It drives me absolutely in.sane when people who disagree with the president are immediately labeled as racists. While I don’t doubt there are people who exist who don’t like President Obama simply because of his race, this whole tar-and-feather tactic being slung around is seriously getting on my nerves.

I’m trying to decide which is the best analogy: the boy who cried wolf or chicken little.

Idiot.

Does this count as life imitating art?
