I read. A lot. As much as possible.
Here are some authors and books by them I tend to return to time and time again. It’s also a work in progress, so I’ll add more as time goes by.
Oscar Wilde – The Picture of Dorian Gray. My favorite novel of all time, hands down. It has everything: murder, suicide, drug abuse, unrequited love, a pact with the devil. What’s not to love?
Charlotte Bronte – close on the heels of The Picture of Dorian Gray, Jane Eyre is my second favorite novel of all time.
Kim Harrison – the Rachel Morgan series
Harlan Ellison – I haven’t read as much of his work as I’d like to, but two of my favorites are “True Love: Groping for the Holy Grail,” a Nonfiction essay that everyone who’s in a relationship (or wants to be) should read, and “I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream.”
Anne Rice – I’ve read everything she’s written over the years with the exception of a couple of her “Christian” books – not because I don’t want to read them, just because I haven’t had time – and the second werewolf book. My favorite, hands down, is Cry to Heaven, a beautiful novel about castrati singers in eighteenth-century Italy.
J.K. Rowling – Harry Potter Series
Heather Blake – Witchcraft Mystery series
